Welcome to the Toastmaster Website for UC Riverside. The Speaking Scooby Club was chartered on October 1, 2001. Our mission is to provide a mutually supportive environment to develop and improve communication and leadership skills. Meetings are at a new time on Monday's from 6:30-7:30 PM in the Princeton Review at Bannockburn i-105. Each week members have opportunities to give prepared speeches, and to practice skills in impromptu speaking. Evaluation of prepared speeches provides encouragement and tips for improvement. Additional members benefits include: improved listening and thinking skills, and experience in conducting meetings. The Toastmasters Educational Program leads beginning speakers through an initial series of 10 speaking assignments that focus on core elements of public speaking. Experienced speakers can select from 15 advanced manuals geared to specific career goals. Among these advanced topics are: Public Relations, Techincal Presentations, and Interpersonal Communications. Membership is open to all UCR faculty, staff, and students and interested parties. Guests are welcome to come and observe a typical Toastmasters meeting. Speaking Scooby is in District 12, club 3725, area c-3.
